Website Garage - This place is a website rating service, it does not teach you HTML, but it is very useful because it will analyse your HTML, and browser compatibility. It also rates your page on popularity, load time, dead links, search engine readiness, etc and gives you a rating based upon these qualities.
NCSA's beginner's guide to HTML - This is a good place to start, as it teaches basic HTML. NCSA has all sorts of guides to tables, frames, imagemaps, and lots of other stuff.
Yuriy's Webforum - A nice place to ask for help for that nagging question that isn't in the any of the million "The Best HTML Help Tutorial/FAQ"s you've seen. You won't be slammed for asking dumb questions. Not a good place to learn everything there is to know about HTML, but a great place for one or two questions you may have.
Nuthin' but Links - This is an excellent webpage for everyone. They have several helpful tutorials, as well as places to find out the hottest sites on the net and "unusual and useless" links. There is so much more, a lot of it useful to a webpage builder. They have a lot of info.
Web Developer's Virtual Library - This site is a great starter site. It has some tutorials, and addresses other subjects such as navigation. A great place to start.
HTML secrets - This is an excellent tutorial of HTML. It addresses a whole lot of stuff, and it's organised very well with the use of frames.
HTML Help - This site tries to cover everything you could possibly encounter while running a website. Everything from where to get an editor to the "complete" listing of HTML tags. we doubt that the listing is current or complete however, but it is quite extensive.
Why? What? - This place is basically an HTML tutorial, however it also tells you where to get things. Such as POP3 mail readers or zipped graphics.
BigNoseBird.com - This site is excellent. It gives you advice on how to build your webpage. Everything from your "front door" to cgi scripts. (Front door being the first 400 pixels of your website.) This site is extensive and covers a lot of subjects, the organisation is just excellent. We highly recommend every web builder, old or new, go here.
All HTML Tags - This site doesn't actually advertise listing all HTML tags, probably because a tiny browser somewhere on this globe has a tag unique to only it. It pretty much lists all the tags there are however. Great if you want to do something, but you don't know the tag for it.
The HTML learning pages - A pretty nice page, goes over some things like frames, tables, image maps, etc
The Web Help Page - They will look at your page, and make suggestions on what you could do to make it better.
Canlink Help Desk - This place is basically a large tutorial, however it's organised so it's easy to find information on a particular subject. Whether it's from unnumbered lists, to preformatted text, this place is a definite place to check out.
Creating A Successful Website - This place explains how to make a good site, from organisation to tips on making your own graphics.
Learning HTML - This place has tons of links to HTML tutorials and help sources. It also has an extensive list of icon places.
HTML Goodies - This site has a lot of good information. Free graphics, tutorials, and Java/JavaScripts.
Sizzling HTML Jalfrezi - This site basically goes over the basic html needed to make a website.
How Do They Do That? - A great page revealing the secrets of a good website. It's challenging sometimes, and when your down in the gutter, ashamed to the point of putting a few animated Barney images on your page to remove attention from the page, this place is where to go.
Dr. Watson - This place will check your html for bugs, it'll check the page for broken images and links. Very useful for large pages.
The Background FAQ - This is a must read for anyone putting up a background on their page. We use one to add style. but some people don't use them for increased readability, and quicker loading. However, this place is a great place to learn how to do things. Did you know in the latest version of Netscape you can change the background half way through the page!?
